The way we feel affects how we live, work and lead.
When life is demanding, it's easy to overlook the role our physical health plays in how we feel, think and perform.
I'm Sue Matthew, a registered nutritional therapist based in Dartmouth, Devon. My background combines more than 30 years in business, including leadership roles, with a degree in nutritional therapy. Today, I draw on both to help individuals improve their health and to help organisations strengthen leadership performance by bringing physiology into the picture.
Whether it's making changes to your own health or helping leaders perform more effectively under pressure, my approach is grounded in science, practical and shaped around the realities of everyday life.
Does any of this sound familiar?
You used to feel sharper than this.
You're still managing everything life throws at you, but concentrating takes more effort and your thinking doesn't feel quite as clear as it used to. Is this just how life is now?
You invest in developing capable leaders. So why doesn’t it always make a difference back at work?
They leave development programmes with new skills and insights, but putting them into practice when the pressure is on is another matter.
Your health numbers are heading in the wrong direction.
Cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure or weight — perhaps more than one. You want to take action, but conflicting advice makes it difficult to know what will genuinely help.
Your senior leaders are struggling to sustain the pace.
Stress, exhaustion and recurring health problems are taking their toll. You're concerned about burnout, absence or losing experienced leaders you can't easily replace.

How I Can Help
When work and life are demanding, it's easy for your own health to slip down the priority list — until something makes you pay attention.
Whether it's your ability to focus, energy levels, weight or health markers, I help you understand what's happening, what may be driving it and what you can do about it.
Together, we'll work out which changes are likely to make the greatest difference, and how to fit them into your life without making health another full-time job.
FOR ORGANISATIONS
The Physiology of Leadership Performance
Organisations invest heavily in developing leaders. But having the skills and being able to draw on them when the pressure is on are two different things.
Drawing on more than 30 years in business, including senior leadership roles, alongside my training in nutrition and human physiology, I bring a different perspective to leadership development.
By considering how sleep, nutrition, stress and recovery influence the way leaders think, make decisions and respond under pressure, I help organisations address an often-overlooked dimension of leadership effectiveness.
About Me.
I'm a registered nutritional therapist with a professional background that may be a little different from what you'd expect.
Before retraining in nutrition, I spent more than 30 years in business as a Chartered Accountant, including leadership roles at Deloitte. So I know first-hand the demands of a high-pressure career, and how easily your own health can end up at the bottom of the priority list.
Some of the most rewarding parts of my career involved coaching, mentoring and developing people — listening to them and understanding what makes them tick. Today, in my work on health and leadership performance, I connect those skills and experience with my knowledge of nutrition and human physiology. I know that understanding what needs to change is one thing; finding ways to make those changes happen, particularly when life is demanding, is quite another.
